General Meeting, November 7th, 2012, 8:30pm, Horticulture Department
Past Speakers
Korina Qu Petrozzi of The Plant Nerd, Inc
March 4th
Korina, a Certified Ornamental Horticulturist, UCCE Master Gardener and Graduate PCDI School of Landscape Design, will be our final speaker prior to the conclusion of Spring Semester. Korina’s interest in gardening began when she enrolled in her high school horticulture program. Later she worked in a local nursery while continuing her education in Ornamental Horticulture. At the nursery, she was faced with many customers that were in desperate need of a professional to come to their home and give them sound advice on what do to do with their landscapes. As the business grew, she began to focus on a full design approach that included all aspects of the landscape. Korina is an impassioned speaker with a wealth of knowledge, and take-charge demeanor that thrives on interaction with the audience. The presentation will include a lecture, and a question and answer session. If you’ve ever wanted to start your own horticulture-based business or wanted to learn more from a proven successful business person this is an excellent opportunity to get started.
Lee Gordon
Director of Orange Coast College’s Garrison Garden will be our guest speaker this month, to tell us the story of the Garrison Rose Garden on campus.
Mike Viljak
Mike, an avid bonsai gardener and fellow OCC Horticulture student, will be there again this month to share with us us his passion and experience on all aspects of bonsai tending, from pottery creation to selection, from root pruning to shaping, from tools to aesthetics. Mike is an impassioned speaker with a wealth of knowledge, and a laid back demeanor that thrives on interaction with the audience. The presentation will include several demonstration pieces, a lecture, and a question and answer session. If you’ve ever wanted to give bonsai gardening a try this is an excellent opportunity to get started.
