Before we get on to news regarding our plant sales, we have a very special day approaching! Our department has been hard at work in the greenhouse, and our very own Amorphophallus titanum, or Titan arum, is ready to bloom!
We’re going to need some volunteers to help us man the “Big Stinker” from Thursday, June 19th through Saturday, June 21st from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM while it’s in bloom, so if you’re interested, please let us know!
The Horticulture Club is happy to announce it’s upcoming Staghorn Day! The department needs volunteers on Tuesday, June 24th from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM to help prepare some specimens for the upcoming sale this Fall, so if you’d like to lend a hand, please contact us soon!
We have also set the dates for our upcoming Fall plant sale! The sale will be hosted on Friday, October 3rd and Saturday, October 4th. We will send another email regarding the schedule for the sale.
Don’t forget, the Spring Garden Show booklets are ready to pick up! Stop by soon!

Start off the semester great by joining us in learning from an great landscape and interior designer, Constance Hubbard, as she discusses her experiences, both professionally and as a former student of Ornamental Horticulture here at OCC, as well as the relationships of both exterior and interior spaces in her work. A talk you won’t want to miss! There will be food and drinks and a great environment to meet some great horticulture people! See you there!

What is Science Night?
Every year all the science departments begin preparing for a visit from students teachers, parents, from schools all over orange county. It falls upon us to show off and teach our visiters what horticulture is all about! We put on different exhibits for kids to look through and engage. There are plants you can smell, touch, eat as well as microscopes that they can look at bugs through. It is a fun filled event, something that will stick with you for a very long time! So come join us and help us this year!
