The Horticulture Department
Welcome back! We are digging into the second week of the Fall semester and just getting started. We hope you had a good summer, but it’s time to switch gears and get into the mix of things. As always, everyone here in the horticulture department is hitting the ground running.
For those of you that are interested in getting involved with our department, we have a volunteer opportunity coming up in a couple of days. As many of you know, this is that period of time where we get incredibly busy getting our poinsettias ready for our sale later in December. With that said, we would like to see some volunteers on Friday, September 9th, from 10:00AM – 4:00PM in our department, ready to help us get their hands dirty and help us out with a massive load of poinsettias that need to be prepared and planted. You can show up any time during this working period and may donate as much or as little time as you are willing.
If you’re not well versed in our poinsettia preparation, do not feel intimidated! We are here to guide anyone interested in lending a hand! There is plenty of work to go around and we are trying to make Friday our last haul. In the scenario that the load is too overwhelming for our volunteers, we may continue on Saturday, September 10th, but that is pending, so stay tuned.
Please come ready to work. Dress appropriately. We ask that you avoid open-toed shoes for your safety. We will provide lunch for our volunteers, but feel free to bring something for yourself or to share with others!
We’ll see you there!
